Industry / Sector Trade Bodies

South West Tourism works with industry/sector trade bodies with the aim of providing information and knowledge to influence their own policies and operations to meet the regional strategy Towards 2015 and for dissemination onwards to their members. We also listen to issues preventing or slowing their members in delivering against Towards 2015

  • National Farmers Union (NFU) 
    The National Farmers' Union represents the farmers and growers of England and Wales. Its central objective is to promote successful and socially responsible agriculture and horticulture, while ensuring the long term viability of rural communities.
  • British Holiday Home & Parks Association (BH&HPA) 
    Established exclusively to serve and represent the interests of the British parks industry. Membership is made up of the owners and managers of park home estates, touring and tenting parks, caravan holiday home parks, chalet parks and all types of self-catering accommodation.
  • Taste of the West 
    The regional food and drink trade organisation for the South West of England. As a membership organisation Taste of the West works to develop the region's exceptional regional food and drink industry.
  • Farm Stay UK
    Working to promote the concept of farm tourism in the UK, to help members expand their businesses through pro-active marketing/sales support and to assist farmers in broadening their income base through diversification.
  • National Trust 
    Working to preserve and protect the buildings, countryside and coastline of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, in a range of ways, through practical conservation, learning and discovery, and encouraging everyone to visit and enjoy their national heritage.
  • English Heritage
    English Heritage exists to protect and promote England's spectacular historic environment and ensure that its past is researched and understood.
  • Tourism Alliance 
    The Tourism Alliance seeks to establish and maintain a favourable operating environment for all businesses involved in the delivery of tourism, particularly in England. Their main purpose is to lobby government both in England and Brussels on the key strategic issues facing the industry.
  • Tourism Management Institute (TMI)
    TMI is the professional institute for people working in Destination Management. A network of over 300 tourism professionals, who share news and ideas.
  • The Tourism Society
    The Tourism Society is the professional membership body for people working in all sectors of the visitor economy with the aim of driving up standards of professionalism in a fast-growing global industry which can have major social, economic and environmental impacts on communities and nations.
