South West marketers, tourism and business professionals are being invited to set sail and dine at the exclusive Annual Marketers Dinner on the River Dart this month. Hosted by The Chartered Institute of Marketing's South West Region, Simon Calder, senior travel editor at The Independent, will also entertain guests with an after dinner speech.
Taking place on Thursday 22 October 2009, guests will sail down the beautiful River Dart from Totnes amid the autumn sunset to celebrate The Institute's South West Regional Annual Marketers Dinner.
The event is jointly sponsored by RH Advertising, Classic Cottages, Peninsular OneSource and Cambridge Professional Academy. Guests will be treated to a three course dinner. Also a BBC travel correspondent, Simon Calder will give an insight into his travel experiences and thoughts on the growing UK tourism industry.
Simon Calder says:
"A holiday involves more than just handing over some cash and hoping for the best. It's also a significant investment of time and emotion. In these difficult and risk-averse days, I'm heartened to see how well the tourist industry in England's Westcountry have responded by delivering quality and value. I've been holidaying in the South West for four decades, and have never seen it in such good shape. It's almost as tricky making predictions about tourism trends as it is forecasting the weather, but I'm looking forward to sharing my view of the future with the region's key tourism professionals."
Andrew Morton, chair of The Institute's Devon and Cornwall branch said:
"We are delighted to celebrate this year's third Annual Marketers Dinner which will give business professionals in the region the opportunity to meet and greet fellow members and enjoy a relaxed informal evening in the stunning Dart Valley that runs through the South Hams. I look forward to welcoming guest speaker, Simon Calder, aboard and learning more about the leisure and tourism industry both in the UK and abroad."
Places are limited so early booking is advisable. Guests are invited to arrive 15 minutes before the boat departure at 1900 and will disembark back in Totnes by 2300.
