Every day for a week, starting Monday 1st March, Metro newspapers across the UK featured a half page competition, focusing on South West England. The Metro is the main newspaper for commuters in 16 UK cities including London and Birmingham, and enjoys a daily circulation of over 1.3 million and readership of 3.2 million.
Our partners in the campaign include VisitCornwall, VisitDevon and Somerset Tourism Partnership who have helped organize some great prize breaks and will receive additional coverage in this campaign designed to encourage visits to the region on the back of our wonderful food and drink.

Thank you for your comment Nikki. We took the decision when we bought into the campaigns that given that our members pay us an annual membership fee that should encompass the majority of our promotional activity, we would pay centrally for Wiltshire to participate in the 'Towns & Cities' and 'Country Breaks' campaigns. This highlights how we are representing our members in such campaigns at no extra cost to them. In addition, The Metro campaign is linked to the Gastro / Fine Dining and as such would not be that relevant to members such as Vintage Cars - we chose the campaigns that would bring the most benefit to our members overall.

I am more than a little annoyed not to have known about this in advance - yet again Tourism Businesses in Wiltshire are frozen out of this opportunity! Who decides who is in and who is out Cornwall / Devon / Somerset/ Wiltshire etc? We pay twice (Bath and Wiltshire VisitBoth) to participate in the tourist activity that goes on in SWT area and are located close to the mainline out of London (and we even pick up clients who arrive by train!).Frankly what are we paying for when we never get to hear about these opportunities until 4 days into an "event"!Come on Wiltshire - how about informing your membership about events like this - after all we do pay for your service.
