The Pie & Ale Festival is one of the favourite food and drink events in Cornwall, and the 2013 festival will take place for 4 days from the 3rd-6th May.

It will take place at the Smuggler’s Den Inn at Cubert, and the festival regularly attracts over 30,000 people and is a key date in the foodies diary. The 4 day celebration includes many ciders, beers and ales as well as a vast array of pies, along with live entertainment.

“Over the years we have continued to be delighted and pleasantly surprised by the quality of ales within 40 miles of the pub. We firmly believe that this is one of the few places in the world where there is such a hub of quality breweries and it’s important that it’s celebrated,” said festival organiser and Smugglers’ landlord Simon Hancock.

Now in its 14th year, the festival started as an opportunity for patrons to try out some different ales, but the success of the day has meant that it has grown year on year with the range now extending to over 70 ales.

“The festival is a great opportunity to sample the finest ales in Cornwall and the rest of the UK. Many are light in colour, some are dark, some have a low ABV, some are a bit stronger, all are to be enjoyed!” continued Mr Hancock.

Alongside some fine tipple there will be a wide choice of pies, from meat pies to vegetarian pies, hot to cold pies and even some flans for good measure. Last years favourite was the ‘pork and chorizo’ but a new one is currently being developed by the Smugglers’ Den Inn new Head Chef Terry Adamson for grand reveal this year.

The final programme of events is currently being fine-tuned and will be updated on the pub website Fans can also follow developments on
