Exmoor National Park is a lovely place to visit. It is located in the north coast of Devon and is really easily accessible from all over the country. When you are here you experience one of the truly un-spoilt areas of the British countryside. You will really enjoy spending a few days exploring the area and also visiting some of the nice little villages and towns around here.
Exmoor is probably best known for the wild Exmoor ponies that wander freely across the moors. There are also red deer although they are a bit more elusive. If you are driving, you have to be a bit careful because the ponies literally wander where they like. You’ll be able to get some great photos of them but they are wild so you can’t get that close.
Lynton and Lynmouth are two of the nicest villages in the area and it is really two villages joined into one. Situated right in the National Park, you can find plenty of lovely and very affordable accommodation here. There is always plenty to do and see and also plenty of places to eat and drink and enjoy some of those famous Devon cream teas.
In the second week of July, every year, there is the Lynton and Lynmouth music festival. It is a great event and there is music from local musicians and from outsiders. The festival really brings the local community and visitors together and it is very popular. It is a great family event and everyone thoroughly enjoys it. Lynton and Lynmouth is an ideal place to locate yourself to get the most out of Exmoor.
