Bristol, Salisbury, Exeter, Gloucester, Plymouth and Truro all offer a range of attractions and sight seeing opportunities that will give you a great short break away from the daily grind. Gloucester, situated in the Cotswolds, boasts a magnificent Gothic cathedral, historic docks and is also the perfect base to explore this beautiful area. This is a very cultural city dating back to Roman times, of which the remains of a Roman villa are still in evidence. Bristol is a unique blend of the past and the present, the contemporary culture sits alongside a colourful history littered with tales of pirates and intrepid explorers.
The city of Salisbury is home to the cathedral that boasts the highest spire in England, as well as being only a stones throw from the must see attraction in Wiltshire; the famous standing stones at Stonehenge. Head south into Devon and we find Exeter, the famous walled city. Bursting with character and with signs of its ancient history clearly visible, Exeter offers everything you would expect from a modern city with a fascinating past.
Further south is Plymouth, the city with its roots planted firmly in all things maritime. Today’s visitors can enjoy a range of attractions that include the 60ft high Plymouth Wheel, the expansive Dartmoor Zoological part and many relics from its long love affair with the sea. Truro in Cornwall is simply one of the most beautiful cities you will find anywhere, and the range of activities on offer make it the perfect short break destination, whatever your age.
