You can have fun at the beginning of the festive season at Russell’s, an eatery that has rooms, which is located on the High Street in the Cotswolds village of Broadway, whose picture-postcard glamour will be lit with flashing white lights, in the run-up to Christmas.
Serving a complete range of Christmas foods in its comfortable restaurant, Russell’s offers modern British cuisine. Businesses and family gatherings have the opportunity to hold their parties or pre-Christmas occasions here. There are seven suites and guestrooms, furnished to exquisite standards, in addition to the fabulous restaurant.
The village comes to life in the festive period with the local shops pulling out all the stops to make attractive window display and giving people a chance to shop for Christmas at their leisure – avoiding stressful trips to characterless shopping centres.
On Friday, November 29 and Friday, December 6 from 5-8.30pm special open-air shopping events are held to allow people to complete their Christmas shopping. Free mulled wine and mince pies help create a holiday atmosphere as musicians and carol singers keep shoppers entertained. Horse and carriage rides along the High Street add to the charm of the occasion.
The village several notable art galleries and gift shops. And for a break from shopping, the Russell museum features the work of Sir Gordon Russell, the famous Arts & Crafts furniture designer, after whom Russell’s was named. The village is also an excellent base for exploring the Cotswolds on foot or by car and visiting Christmas attractions in neighbouring villages and towns.
Russell’s is a family business, owned by Andrew and Gaynor Riley who are third generation hoteliers in Broadway. Andrew said: “November and December are special times for us. The village and surrounding countryside look beautiful in the winter light. Our guests can enjoy a wander around the village and then we entice them back indoors with our wonderful festive menu and Christmas decorations.
“We offer the perfect balance of festivities and relaxation for overnight guests.”
The ‘restaurant-with-rooms’ is a French concept with the emphasis on fine food and company plus well-appointed bedrooms.
Special Offer: Russell’s is offering a special deal for November visitors – normal room rates apply but include a Fixed Price two-course dinner each evening, UPGRADE to the A La Carte menu and receive 50% off your meal (food only). As Russell’s is closed on Sunday evenings, the offer would include a two-course Sunday lunch instead.
