Visiting the beautiful region of Lyme Bay

Along the coast of Devon and Dorset is the incredible coastal region of Lyme Bay. This is one of the most beautiful parts of England, and is located in the south-west of the country. This area is full of heritage, history and some breathtaking scenery which makes it all together one of the most diverse regions in all of England.

This part of the country is easily accessible by either rail, or road, and depending on the traffic, and the time of day, it generally takes about three hours to reach from London. Regular rail services run from Waterloo all the way to Devon, which makes it a very easy destination to reach from the capital city. This is going to be particularly convenient if you are flying in from abroad by air to one of London’s major airports.

This area of the country is also known as The Jurassic Coast, because of its incredible diversity of fossils. Fossil hunting is something that is very popular in the area and there are many fossils due to its historical record which dates back nearly 119 million years. This was the first-ever World Heritage Site that was created by UNESCO in the UK back in 2001. It was designated as a site of significance because of its incredible history.

If you are interested in doing some fossil hunting you will find it very easy to take part in this activity as there are numerous specific excursions and tours organising this. These are not just something that are popular with children, and are an activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family. This is just one of many activities that can be enjoyed in the Lyme Bay area.
